School-Based Agricultural Education is a variety of vocational courses taught in a high school setting with the goal of producing students who are problem solvers, critical thinkers, and informed consumers of agricultural products. Students in these courses learn the basics through classroom instruction, enhance their skills through a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), and develop their leadership through participation in FFA events.
Agriscience Education courses are a part of Career and Technical Education courses which are designed to engage lifelong learning to prepare students for a variety of careers after their high school years. Through hands-on, experiential learning in labs, practicums, and inquiry-based lessons, students are able to develop their knowledge in real-life, real-world scenarios preparing them for the ever-changing landscape of agriculture. Skills learned in agriscience courses are transferable amongst all career paths both within and outside of the agricultural industry.
