Literacy Activities


We read every day at Preschool. We read the same book for 2 weeks so the children become familiar with the book. They enjoy the repetition and consistency of the same book. We talk about the title, author and illustrator. We talk about the front, back and spine of the book. Reading expands their vocabulary so much and gets them excited about reading and writing!

Letter/Sound Recognition Activities

-go through books on a letter hunt, see how many “A”s you can find, etc.

-play the sound game: “Hmm, I know D is for dog, what is another word you know that starts with D?”

-Name Puzzle write the child's name on a piece of paper, cut each letter out, and have the child put the letters in the correct order.
