16/10/21, 27/11/21 - dBs Music Open Day:
I was contacted alongside a colleague/fellow student to run and represent the Live Sound course for dBs Music’s Open days. Myself and my colleague, Dom Brown (dbsrproductions), began discussing various set up ideas appropriate for the event to best display the wide range of topics explored. Dom put a pitch brief together and this was sent out to the university staff for review. A feasible solution was negotiated as well as arrangement of moving equipment to the correct site. Dom and I worked hard to choose multitrack files across multiple genres, and create CL5 show files for each multitrack to be played on the mixing console. Load in and build was carried out the day before for smooth operation on the event day. The day consisted of swapping multitracks for members of the public to practise mixing on. It was also important to adjust the academic level of explanation based on the person's current knowledge base. Where appropriate I used scientific, academic and accurate terminology to explain concepts and equipment practises. My confident demonstration and competency helped to build a rapport with current and future lecturers, and assisted in me gaining additional work experience. Especially backed by positive feedback from my Freshers Event work.
