Fresher's Evening

13/09/21 - Strangebrew dBs Music Freshers Event:

The freshers' event consisted of ensuring all audio and loudspeakers were patched, routed, prior to show start, and levels monitored correctly throughout a show consisting of 5 DJ performances, alongside adhering to the show schedule and liaising with organisers. Upon arrival it was found that no mixing console was available to use for the show so all gain and loudspeaker output control would be managed from the amplifiers. Several cables had to be swapped and rearranged to ensure correct signal flow from the DJ mixers to the amplifiers. A/B testing was applied throughout the set up to identify which speakers were being controlled and from what source point. The system consisted of d&b audiotechnik 2 x B4 subs, 3 x E12 Tops (2 for FOH, 1 for outer edge of DJ booth), D20 and D6 amplifiers, M4 monitor speakers, C7 monitor sub, and 3 smaller delay speakers, model not identified.

All speakers were set to -3dB to achieve some output control without a console. This value was adjusted throughout the show with varying DJ’s as the master output was controlled from their mixer for FOH and Monitors simultaneously.
