25/09/21 - Lakota Tribe Of Frog:
I was contacted by an engineer at AFLive, dBs Music’s educational partner, whom I had previously worked with over the summer for Lakota Summer Of Love Festival, asking if I was available to assist some technicians at Lakota, via phone call. We assessed what equipment I was comfortable operating and setting up, and although I was not very familiar with DJ mixers it was a great opportunity to develop my skill set. I spent the 12 hour shift monitoring DJ levels across 6 rooms in the venue, and making sure the DJ’s were happy with the level also. When encountered with any technical issues I reported back to the lead technician for the night, the majority of these being people unfamiliar with sound equipment, and not actual technical faults. Speakers ranged from L’acoustics, to Funktion One and Void. The main foh console was a Behringer X32, however not much had to be adjusted except making sure levels were not peaking, specifically around the bar area. At the end of the night, I assisted with pack down of all DJ equipment. This first night working at Lakota provided me with insight into the general runnings and equipment storage areas which would be utilised in continued work.
