Conner Kirsch
Conner Kirsch is a four-year Writing and Linguistics major, a freelance animator, and a self-identifying coffee addict. He happens to be one of those people who never grew out of loving cartoons, but so much so that he’s looking to make a career out of it. He’s currently finding work in freelance illustration, character rigging, and motion graphics, but despite working mostly in visual art, he attributes everything he does to what he’s learned as a writing student. "Over the course of my time in the Writing and Linguistics department and in my first career work, I’ve started to understand that my writing and art are collaborative in nature. I work best when I’m serving as part of a larger project. I have personal work and projects of my own, but I ultimately have found the most love for what I do when I can do it with others, especially when I can fill a needed role to improve the overall result. I love writing character profiles that can be used to guide a number of subsequent projects, I love translating scripts into storyboards that can then be taken further and built upon, I love workshopping scripts and developing the best possible versions of stories, and so on. Ultimately, I find so much joy in being able to take everything I’ve learned as a Writing and Linguistics student and apply them to larger projects, and I think art in general is at its best when artists can pool what they love into works bigger than themselves."
