The course focused on the issue of refugees and their migration courses as well as the story of their displacement, the impacts that has had on the Arab world and what forced migration looks like. The course specifically intended to put a focus on the refugee crisis within Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. The course looks at the refugee movements from a sociological, ethnographic, and historical lens. The course didn't intend to focus on the reason or the root cause of these migrations but rather the experiences of these refugees and how they found new homes, adapted to it and overcame several challenges they had to face. It was also essential to look at the way local as well as international organizations and communities have reacted towards the refugees and the media coverage of these refugees from different parts of the world. We were able to analyze the work of several journalists, academics, historians, policy makers and aid workers, but most importantly we were able to look at the voice of the refugees themselves.
