As a Jesuit and Catholic university, Georgetown places special emphasis on the dignity and worth of every person and the love of truth. Membership in this community carries with it high expectations regarding the ways in which each person will act both within and beyond Healy Gates.
All members of the McDonough School of Business community are expected to honor the following commitments in all their actions:
A commitment to the highest standards of honesty and personal integrity both inside and outside the classroom.
A commitment to treat others in a respectful manner, regardless of differences such as race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
A commitment to open discourse and the free exchange of ideas.
A commitment to exercise mutual care and responsibility in all relationships.
In order to ensure a successful GBEL, participants must abide by the following rules and regulations. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the program.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance and punctuality are mandatory for all courses and activities. The maximum number of unexcused session absences is two. Every two unexcused tardies will equal one unexcused absence. An "excused" absence is usually related to an unforeseen circumstance beyond your control, such as an illness or a personal emergency. If you must miss class due to emergency or illness, please notify the LALP team.
TECHNOLOGY
Some professors ask that students do not use electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, and cell phones during class time during the in-person modules. Please respect the each professor's policy regarding this rule.
PARTICIPATION
Participants are expected to be active and respectful participants during class discussions. Both quantity and quality matter, and our primary interest is in top-quality, respectful, fast-moving discussion.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
The above-mentioned items are necessary for successful completion of the GBEL program, and as requirements to obtain the corresponding certificate. The following components are taken into consideration in order to obtain a satisfactory consideration: GBEL project development, project presentations, attendance, participation in class.
LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
Only GBEL participants are allowed to reside in the lodging provided by Georgetown.
COMMITMENT TO RETURN TO COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
All admitted participants must agree to return to their country of origin for at least one year. Failure to comply with this commitment will result in the participant reimbursing the Latin America Leadership Program for the total cost of the program ($15,000.00 USD).
NON-COMPLIANCE
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements, including an excessive amount of unexcused absences, constitutes a reason for being expelled from the GBEL program and not issuing the corresponding certificate of completion.
