Designed by Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP), especially for business leaders working in the Latin American and Caribbean region, the new Global Business Executive Leadership program (GBEL) is a hybrid experiential program that includes two in-person modules in Panama City (Panama) and at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. (U.S.), along with an 8-week virtual module in between.
Based on the long-standing success of its Global Competitiveness Leadership (GCL) and Innovation and Leadership in Government (ILG) annual programs, LALP's new flagship program is a comprehensive business executive program that integrates key themes of global operations management, strategic leadership, adaptability and innovation, and business sustainability to empower business leaders make informed decisions that drive organizational success in today's dynamic and interconnected world.
GBEL goes beyond a traditional academic program, providing an innovative model to promote experiential learning. The curriculum combines academic courses offering theoretical frameworks along with practical tools, knowledge, and applications facilitated through group discussions, case simulations, and peer-to-peer exercises. There is a strong emphasis on open dialogue, class engagement, and peer learning. As part of the program, participants will develop an applied business project proposal where they will identify a challenge or an opportunity they currently face in their company and propose a comprehensive strategy to address it. Participants must be able to get their organization's approval to develop and potentially implement their business project proposal.
Upon completing this program, business executives will be equipped with a holistic understanding of global business dynamics and the ability to drive strategic initiatives in their organizations, positioning them as influential leaders in today's rapidly evolving business environment. Furthermore, after the program ends, GBEL participants join the LALP alumni network, which currently includes 900 leaders in the private, social, public, and multilateral sectors collaborating to share knowledge and advance projects that positively impact the Americas and beyond.
Global Operations Management: Explore advanced end-to-end supply chain management concepts and analyze strategies for optimizing supply chain efficiency, resilience, and responsiveness to enhance overall business performance, including nearshoring opportunities.
Strategic Leadership: Develop strategic thinking and decision-making skills to equip executives with the mindset, skills, and strategies necessary to lead organizations through an era of constant change.
Adaptability and Innovation: Develop the ability to navigate and adapt to the rapidly changing global business landscape, including geopolitical shifts, market fluctuations, and technological advancements, while exploring the role of emerging technologies in transforming business operations and creating a competitive edge.
Sustainability in Business: Understand the importance of integrating sustainability into the innovation process, ensuring that technological advancements align with environmental, social, and ethical considerations.

GBEL 2025 will run as a hybrid program from April 23, 2025 through July 11, 2025 as follows:

Pursuing the university’s mission of teaching and service for the common good, Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) develops regionally-focused experiential executive education programs that aim to educate, connect, and inspire regional leaders to create impact networks with a positive multiplier effect across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Based in the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University’s Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) designs and implements innovative programs that connect and empower a new generation of socially responsible, innovative, and ethical leaders active in the public and private sectors and civil society.
LALP currently houses three annual flagship programs— the Global Competitiveness Leadership program (GCL) for young emergent social impact leaders across all sectors, the Innovation and Leadership in Government program (ILG) for mid-level public managers and other individuals leading public initiatives in the region, and the Global Business Executive Leadership program (GBEL) for business executives whose work impacts the Latin American and Caribbean region. These three annual offerings for leaders from the private, public, and social sectors, together with its custom programs designed for organizations across the region, its series of public dialogues, its publications, and its growing alumni networks, help foster deeper links between Georgetown University and Latin America while promoting responsible and transformative leadership and developing impact networks that create a positive multiplier effect across the region.
The LALP works closely with the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) and with faculty and programs across the university in the pursuit of its mission.

Our initiatives:
Annual Leadership Programs. Imparted by Georgetown’s University distinguished faculty members and expert guests, the LALP awards leaders from Latin America with full and partial scholarships to participate in high-impact leadership courses, including the Global Competitiveness Leadership program (GCL), the Innovation and Leadership in Government program (ILG) and the Global Business Executive Leadership program (GBEL).
Custom Programs for Organizations. Building on the success of both GCL and ILG, LALP partners with various other Georgetown departments and schools to design and implement custom programs both in Washington, DC and throughout the region. Latin American leaders from private and public sectors welcome the opportunity to design their own programs with distinguished faculty and flexible formats addressing real-world challenges. Alumni Networks. The LALP works with and supports the GCL, ILG, and other alumni networks that are active agents of change throughout Latin America. Members of these networks interact and constitute a platform with a multiplier impact throughout the region. Read alumni news.
Events and Strategic Alliances. In collaboration with the Georgetown Americas Institute and other university units and student groups, LALP sponsors public dialogues that bring together leaders from government, business, civil society, and the academy to address core themes of governance and the rule of law, economic growth and innovation, and social and cultural inclusion in Latin America. Publications: The Journal of Globalization, Competitiveness, and Governability, published by Georgetown University, aims to become a source of new ideas about the effects of globalization on the competitiveness and governability of businesses and countries in Latin America, and particularly on the tools available to managers and politicians to design better strategies to benefit their respective businesses and countries.
