The purpose of writing to explain [wte] is to make a subject very clear to the reader and cover a range of its aspects.
Explaining goes further than simply giving information.
In the end, the appropriateness of the tips depends on the question you are asked. If you know how to do these things, then you need to select and adapt this to suit the question in the examination.
One of the questions in Section B of Paper 2 lets you write to explain. If you choose that title, you need to be aware that explanation is different from straightforward information.
