The Genoa Area Local School District includes Ottawa County residents from Clay Center, Curtice, Genoa, Martin, Millbury, and Williston. The district is located on one campus in Genoa, Ohio and consists of approximately 1,400 students and 150 staff members.


Our mission is educating and empowering all students to find their purpose, explore their path, and discover their passion.

In addition to having outstanding college preparatory and general courses of study, Genoa Area High School is affiliated with Penta Career Center, a public vocational high school located in Perrysburg Township, Wood County, Ohio.


The Genoa Comets take great pride in academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Our well-rounded student body gains strong support from Genoa Elementary’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the High School Genoa Academic Committee (GAC), Athletic Boosters, Music Boosters, and Future Farmers of America (FFA).


The Genoa Comets are members of the Northern Buckeye Conference (NBC) for athletic competition along with seven other districts from Ottawa and Wood counties.


The Genoa Area Local School District values the use of a blended learning environment to personalize the educational experience for our students. Student-centered instruction, technology integration, collaboration, innovation, and creativity is the focus for developing 21st century learners, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and life long learners. The district currently supports a 1:1 ratio of technology devices for grades K - 12.


The Genoa Area Scholarship Foundation is proud to support Genoa seniors in their future endeavors. In 2021, a total of 74 scholarships were awarded to 47 seniors through the Foundation. Over the past five years, the Foundation has awarded 362 scholarships. The various scholarship funds in the Foundation total over $1.2 million in assets to assist our students in furthering their education.


The Genoa Area community is conveniently located between the urban amenities of Perrysburg and the beautiful Lake Erie Island communities.
