Hello everyone and welcome to the English ‘Above and Beyond’ page. This English learning pack is designed to ensure your children are able to continue to write to the best of their ability during the summer holiday. KS3 English activities range from exciting writing skills to engaging and interesting reading skills. It is imperative that students are able to write using accurate SPaG therefore Year 7 and 8 have writing tasks that are provided to ensure that they are able to continue to develop these skills essential for English success! They will work on sentence structures, using accurate punctuation and writing engaging narratives.
Year 9 students will embark on their learning journey for iGCSE. Over the summer break, it is essential that you utilise your time preparing for the content, examinations and challenges of the course. Using the attached, iGCSE English anthology, you will read and respond to a handful of texts in readiness for September. The full guidance and instructions can be found in the attached student letter. Have a restful summer break and see you in September.

From non- fiction to poetry, students will work on developing their ability to infer and complete basic comprehension to writing evaluative comments about a text considering how it engages readers in a variety of ways. This pack is excellent for students as they begin their journey into KS4 where 90% of their work in English Language and Literature is analytical writing.
