I am testing the Zagg iPad Mini 5 Keyboard, and after keying a few stroke. I decided to write my review using this keyboard.
Since the keyboard was design for iPad Mini 5, the keys are a little small, being smaller that the usual ordinary keyboard, it take a little adjustment when typing. Although after a few paragraph, i was able to to get the feel. The keyboard click is not really a click. But Smoother than I was expecting, I can feel the plastic while typing. But it is workable.
While typing you can feel the smaller space, and smaller keys. If you are a touch typist, you need a little getting used to it.
The keyboard background color can be change. The are four 4 level of backlight adjustments. off, bright, brighter and brightest. And there are 6 color, among the colors are red, purple, white, blue, light green, dark green, and yellow
The iPad Mini Fits okay, but not 100% perfect. The iPad Mini 5 is slightly up a little by a millimeter near the On/Off key. I need to push it down to fit and after awhile, it gets up again. Since the materials is made up of plastics, the clip and fits sometimes is not 100 perfect. I am hoping after a few day, it will adjust a little.
Zagg decided to use a small enter key, this is also a little adjustment to be done.
Connecting to iPad Mini 5 bluetooth was easy without any problem. Just press key bluetooth key for a few seconds and you can see that blue light blinking which is standard for bluetooth pairing.
The special keys works fine, volume mute, volume up and volume down, play/pause, forward, reverse, keyboard option, search, lock and home key.
Why use a bluetooth keyboard? You have the whole screen, and the bigger the screen the more you see and it is a lot more efficient to work on iPad. also, you can type faster using an external physical keyboard.
My problem is sometimes you want to work on portrait mode, and the only way to do that is to remove it from the keyboard, unless turning it side way does not affect you. Being a left handed, I need to remove it when i am using apple pencil, but for right handed, i don’t see any problem.
The space between the hinges and the iPad Mini 5 is a little too near.
In conclusion, I am happy with this keyboard. And even today is my first day using it. I can say this will be my iPad Mini 5 companion in the coming days .
