I am Rene So, and now 67 years old.

I choose Geeky Gramp as my website domain, because I like Gadgets, I try to be updated in technology and I am a grandfather with 10 grandchildren.

Personal background, I am still active in running businesses, but starting to move to semi retirement, giving details work to next generation, so this is more of a hobby for me. I love computers, gadgets, and smartphones, I love photography, I ride bicycle regularly, and I swim every once in awhile. I do not walk or run because of my chronic back problem, I have spinal disc degeneration, that I need to rest and sit down for 1-2 minutes every 10 minutes walk. I am considered a Person With Disability (PWD), I still play social golf but with golf cart, and sometimes I ride Motorcycle. Even with a back problem, I try my best to remain active. I seldom go to malls and I have to use a mobility scooter to catch up with my family shopping pattern.

Photography is my hobby since I was in college, I have my own black and white dark room, and I develop my own photos during the late seventies and early eighties. Due to work schedules, I stop developing photos. Now I do a little editing, but mostly on my iPhone and iPad using several apps. 

Currently, I own several cameras, Sony RX1RIII, Sony A7R3, Sony RX100M6, Sony DSC-HX99, Canon G5x, Fujifilm XT1, Nikon P900, Nikon P1000 and several drones, DJI Neo 1 & 2, DJI Avata 360, HoverAir X1, and  HoverAir X1 Pro Max

I am using GoPro Hero 8 and DJI Osmo Action for outdoor action shoots before and now I have upgraded to GoPro Hero 13, Insta360 Ace Pro 2, Insta 360 GO 3s, and Insta360 GO 3 Ultra,  For indoor I use DJI Osmo Pocket 4 for quick video recordings. 

Currently, my favorite is the Insta360 One X4 360 camera. 

Most of my photos now are taken using my iPhone.

I owned several gadgets, presently, I am using iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone16 Pro Max, iPhone Air, Oppo Find N5, Samsung Zflip 4, Zfold 4, etc. 

I used iPad Pro 12.9, iPad Pro 11, iPad Mini 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, Huawei Matebook Fold Ultimate Design, and Lenovo Yogabook android tablet.

I have little knowledge of Programming, In early 80's, my first computer is Radio Shacks TRS-80 with 16K RAM, and stored program in cassette tapes. Then I owned an Apple II compatible computer, with Z80 Slot card for running CPM operating system.  Later moved to IBM PC compatible computer to run MS-DOS, which evolve to Windows now. I write code on machine language, just to try it. I know a little C programming, Turbo Pascal, and Fortran language, I have written application for dBASE using Clipper during the early 80's. I stop due to work load. Later, I try to learn object oriented language, but it seems I can not get my focus on it and was not able to write an application already. Because of my love for golf, i prefer to play during those times.

I haven't own Apple Computer before, because financially it was too expensive for me. Until recent when I have the capacity to buy, I own an Macbook 13" for several year, my children gave an iMac 27" as a birthday gift a few year back, and now I am using a Macbook Pro 16, Macbook Pro 13 M4,  and  Macbook Neo.

I currently, own HP Folio Spectre laptop, Dell XPS 13, Lenovo Yogabook laptop and tablets, and also I tried the Google Pixelbook Go Chromebook.

Now I am creating this website on my own, using Google G Suite. This site is just a hobby, and for me to be able to store my ideas and works. and To share whatever I learned to others. I like teaching  and I love sharing what I learned.
