Student Support

In Fort La Bosse School Division, we are committed to creating an inclusive, caring environment that helps all students achieve, no matter their individual needs.

Inclusion is a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel accepted, valued and safe. An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members. Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access to the benefits of citizenship. We embrace inclusion as a means of enhancing the well-being of every member of the community. By working together, we strengthen our capacity to provide the foundation for a richer future for all of us.

Fort La Bosse School Division strives to adopt the province’s philosophy of inclusion and follow the recommendations in the Appropriate Educational Programming in Manitoba – Standards for Student Services issued by Manitoba Education.

Team planning and collaboration between home and school is a critical factor in student success - and we have in place a continuum of supports to assist student learning.

All teachers have access to multiple layers of support they can call upon when needed to assist in the development of an appropriate educational plan for an individual student or group of students.

Picture describes that the core team at a school consists of the student, parent/guardian and the classroom teacher. Curriculum, instruction and assessment aim to meet student need.

Student success begins with the core team. Parents/Guardians and teachers work with the student to ensure success.

Education for students in Manitoba starts in the classroom with the Core Team that includes the student, parent and teacher. To know the strengths and understand the students in their classrooms, teachers use class and student profiles to record information about their students.

The picture describes additional supports that the classroom teacher can access as needed which include the School Administrator and Resource/Guidance Teacher(s) as needed/

On occasion, the student may require additional supports to be successful in the classroom. The classroom teacher can access supports from the School Administrator or the Resource Teacher/Guidance Counsellor as needed.

Profiles allow teachers to make program and evaluation decisions for students. When need arises decisions can be made to involve Fort La Bosse Student Services (Resource Teachers) to assist in whole class consultation or student-specific referral to division clinicians.
