Role of Student Services
Additional clinical supports are available to support student need as required. The in-school support team decides when to access additional supports.
Students in Fort La Bosse School Division are supported with the input of a variety of team members (see picture below). In the centre is the student with supports provided by the teacher and parent.
If more support is required, the team can obtain help from other disciplines (clinical personnel). Inclusive practice encourages working within the consultative/collaborative model.
Some students enter school with various disciplines already involved. Formal introduction of a new discipline or agency requires a referral with written parental/guardian approval.
Any clinical/specialist support person becomes part of the student's support team. Specialist personnel might work directly with the student or consult/train other team members such as parents/guardians, teachers or educational assistants.
