1st Quarter Assignments
Week 1 Tasks
Click on the task calendar to the left and see your assignments for the first week of school, August 17 -24. It also gives you directions on how to submit your work. In addition, there is reflection at the end of the calander to fill out and submit. The reflection will let me know about any difficulties you may have had this week.
Task 2
Complete the "About Me" graphic organizer. Follow the directions on the assignment.
Task 3
Read the article about making a classroom at home. Answer the questions at the end in complete sentences.

How to submit your work.
You can print tasks, complete them, then scan your work and send it to me via an email attachment.
If you do not have a scanner you can take a screenshot or a picture and send via email (make sure picture is clear).
If you cannot print, you can complete tasks on your own paper - make sure you have a title on all submitted work.

Eventually we will switch to Google Classroom when majority of students receive their GDOE emails and passwords. The site we are on now can be accessed by any email address.
Week 3 Tasks
Week 3 is dedicated to taking reading pretests, which includes
the Gates-MacGinitie Comprehension and Vocabulary Reading assessments.
Week 4 Tasks
In Week 4, we begin the first story reading from our textbook entitled, The 11:59 by Patricia McKissack. This Historical Fiction story is divided into 3 parts, each having comprehension questions to complete at the end. An After You Read Test is included as well.
Week 6 tasks
In week 6, we focus on how to recognize and write themes in literature. We begin using note-taking strategies while we read and we start reading our second story from the textbook entitled, A Retrieved Reformation by O. Henry, which has critical thinking questions to complete.
Week 7 Tasks
In week 7, we will focus on close reading exercises for three passages from A Retieved Reformation. We will also take take the story test and complete the calendar reflection questions.
Week 8 Tasks
Week 8 reinforces our understanding of allusion and irony through the two writing assignments located on the task calendar.
