The ABCs of Children's Book Publishing

Catherine Payne

Catherine Payne will provide an overview of children's book publishing. She will start by briefly discussing her experience as a traditionally published author. Then she will explain the genres of children's books, from board books to young adults. She will highlight reputable resources for children's book authors, such as companies and professional organizations that offer informative newsletters and online classes. She will describe the current market, and she will provide suggestions for submitting manuscripts to agents and publishers. She will end her presentation by answering questions.

Connecting Our Community for a Sustainable Future

The University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability (CIS) a focal institute in our region for conducting sustainability-related research and community outreach. CIS is currently facilitating the Guam Green Growth (G3) Initiative, the most comprehensive public-private partnership ever created to achieve a sustainable future for our island. Executive Order 2019-23 brought together 97 working group members representing all sectors of society to create and implement the Guam Green Growth Action Framework. This presentation will share how the community is connecting to achieve a sustainable future and provide resources for librarians and teachers to join in this effort.
