GES Families,
Last week we asked you to save the date for our upcoming Grade Level Picnics! We hope you will be able to join us for lunch on the lawn with your star student during the first week of May. This will be a time to enjoy the beautiful weather and eat lunch together for the first time this school year.
We are asking all families to please let us know if they plan to attend. You may sign up on the appropriate grade level form below by Sunday, May 2nd.
PreK Sign-up - May 6 - 10:15 - 10:45
Kinder Sign-up - May 3 - 10:45 - 11:15
1st Grade Sign-up - May 4 - 11:15 - 11:45
2nd Grade Sign-up - May 6 - 11:45 - 12:15
3rd Grade Sign-up - May 3 - 12:15 - 12:45
4th Grade Sign-up - May 4 - 12:45 - 1:15
5th Grade Sign-up - May 6 - 1:15 - 1:45
Please be aware of the following procedures as you come to join us on campus:
You may park on either side of the building and walk towards the large playground.
We will check parents in at both gates leading from the parking lots to the playground beginning 15 minutes before the assigned lunch time (not our vestibule visitor kiosks).
All visitors will need to wear a mask at all times unless you are sitting and eating lunch.
Please bring a blanket or towel for you and your child to sit on. Each space must be socially distanced from other families and children. Parents are responsible for finding their own place on the playground field or court.
Only members of your family may share a single blanket/towel. Please do not plan to ask other students to sit with you.
Our cafeteria staff will be providing sack lunches on the day of your student’s class picnic for all students through our lunch line if they choose to eat school lunch. If you would like to bring your child something else to eat that day, please feel free to do so. All visitors will need to provide their own lunch if you wish to eat with your student. Our cafeteria will not be able to provide any guests meals.
All students will join the grade level picnic on their designated day. This is not dependent on a family member joining them. If you are unable to attend, our teachers will eat lunch with your child.
All my best,
Nancy Hale
Please remember that students should NOT be crossing the parking lot on their own in either the morning or the afternoon. If you wish to park to drop off or pick-up, please escort your child to the crosswalk and plan to meet them on the sidewalk after school. We have had students nearly hit in the parking lot who were by themselves and hard to see for the drivers backing up. Thank you for your careful attention to this safety concern!
Recently, I have heard from a few parents about the positive impact our interns are making on your children's lives. I wanted to provide families a way to recognize them just like we do our teachers, so I've added them to our GES Teachers are Magical form. We have had the great opportunity this year to train several future educators. You can find their names and class assignments listed below. Thank you for taking time to recognize the way they have helped create magic for our stars.
Krisha Aghera - Gray
Payton Bagrow - Gray and Fortune
Abigail Brown - Scott and Dodd
Shelby Brownfield - Hickerson and Moore
Briana Harper - Hickerson
Caroline Sild - Killebrew and Hendrickson
We will have another hat day on Wednesday, April 14th to support CHHS Project Graduation. Donations of $1 or more can be made virtually through Venmo @CHHS-ProjectGraduation or through Paypal using the QR Code. We are not accepting donations in person this year as seniors are not allowed on campus to collect.
Friday, April 16th is a Making Magic Together Friday! We have had such a great year celebrating our magical theme. Please join us in wearing a Disney shirt of any kind!
Our 5th graders have been working with Mrs. North on designing covers for our GES yearbook. While this is an assignment for art class that they all must complete, they may also choose to submit their artwork to be part of the campus contest. All artwork must be submitted to Mrs. North by Tuesday morning, April 13 to be eligible for the yearbook cover contest. Administration will be selecting one winner this week to be featured on the cover of our 20-21 GES yearbook. The winning student will be notified by Friday, April 16. The parent(s) of the winning student will be asked to sign a permission form allowing their artwork to be featured on the yearbook cover.
Dear Families,
For our community service project this year, our GES Student Council is partnering with the City of Grapevine to support local animals in need. Our Grapevine Animal Shelter has been newly renovated and is now three times the size of the previous building. The new building will be celebrating its grand opening to the public on April 19th. We're excited to come together to help animals. Please consider donating between April 19th-April 30th. Max "Puppers" Ervin is already beginning to clean out his toy bin and closet.
Many thanks,
Mrs. Ervin
StuCo Sponsor
We do not have school on Friday, April 30. Although we were off for Snowpocalypse, we had enough minutes in our instructional calendar with students to not have to use this bad weather day.

Volunteers are significantly limited at this time, but there may be opportunities later in the year. Go ahead and apply now so you're ready when the time comes.
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/cms/one.aspx?pageId=195550
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
Parents and loved ones are not able to come up for lunch at this time. We are currently limiting visitors in our building.
