In his 1848, Karl Marx (with the financial backing of Friedrich Engels) wrote the Communist Manifesto within which he predicted that problems of capitalism would eventually lead to the lower classes revolting and the establishment of a classless society. We will be reading a portion of the Communist Manifesto in class on Feb. 26. If you are absent, please select this link to complete the reading and questions independently.

After reading this excerpt, we will be looking at whether any of his predictions came true and how and why the communist country of China has modified its economy in the last few decades.
