In celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Xavier Day and CEC-Community Involvement Program (CEC-CIP), the ADNU Creative Endeavors Council (CEC), in partnership with the ADNU Center for Community Development (CCD), organized the Eco-Hero Art Workshop. This initiative aligns with the SDG 17, particularly SGD17.4.3, which states “Education for SDGs in the wider community."
Recognizing that children are naturally imaginative and teachable, the activity aimed to introduce the core messages of Laudato Si’ in creative and engaging ways. Through art-making using recyclable and biodegradable materials such as leaves, bottle caps, and scrap items, participants will not only explore their creativity but also deepen their awareness of ecological responsibility and sustainability. By integrating the themes of care for creation, community service, and Ignatian spirituality, the outreach fosters both environmental consciousness and personal creativity. It encouraged children to see themselves as “pilgrims of hope”, young stewards of the Earth, and future leaders who will journey with others in building a more compassionate and sustainable world. St. Ignatius reminds us to find God in all things, and this outreach invited young minds to encounter God in nature, in one another, and in their creative ability to make a difference in caring for our common home.
