“Literature, Fiction, and Truth Telling amid Online Misinformation”
22 April 2022 - In celebration of National Literature Month, the literature unit of the Creative Endeavors Council (CEC) conducted a webinar series titled “Literature, Fiction, and Truth Telling amid Online Misinformation” on 22 April 2022 via Zoom. The online event featured two faculty members, Mr. Adrian Remodo and Dr. Elsie Albis from the philosophy and language and literature studies departments.
Highlighting the role of Literature and Fiction in nation-building, both Mr. Remodo and Dr. Albis encouraged the participants to actively participate in literary conversations both in local and national contexts as more literary texts enter public discourse on social media, especially amid the threat of misinformation.
17 June 2022 - To provide Ateneo de Naga University students and faculty with a safe creative space and a pedagogical room as an expression of support for the deepening of imaginative literacy, An online webinar was conducted in celebration of Pride Month.
The CEC invited scholars of literature, film, gender, and research to encourage aspiring writers and filmmakers to expand their horizons and discover other voices by learning how consciousness and identity can enact and develop their creative and research works. This activity aspired to heighten awareness of self-realization and empowerment in artistic expression and the concept of intersectionality and the sociopolitical issues that inspire countless literary works, films, and studies concerning human and gender rights.
"Smaller and Smaller Circles"
13 September 2022 - The Creative Endeavors Council (CEC), in partnership with the Media Studies Department and University Press, hosted a film viewing of Smaller and Smaller Circles with film producer Ria Limjap at the Alingal Multi-purpose Hall. The participants had an opportunity to participate and engage in a meaningful conversation with Ms. Limjap learning about her creative process in film production.
21 October 2022 - The Creative Endeavors Council (CEC) launched the first part of the Dance Webinar Series with James Loresto to share his expertise on contemporary Jazz.
The webinar aimed to provide an avenue for dance enthusiasts in the university to understand the historical development of contemporary jazz as well as learn the basic characteristics of contemporary dance.
25 November 2022 - The second part of the Dance Webinar Series with The Otaku League member, Gabriel Kevin Carrascal, on 25 November via Zoom.
Carrascal discussed the fundamental movements of Hip-hop and Break dancing. The lecture was also accompanied by demonstrations to execute the culture of these dances.
2 December 2022 - In partnership with the Teatro Aliento de Ateneo (TADA) and the Center for Community Development (CCD), the Creative Endeavors Council (CEC) led a Creative Art Workshop at Ponong Integrated High School in Magarao, Camarines Sur.
Three parallel sessions - Tigsik Writing, Basic Theater, and Dance Workshops - were facilitated by the student volunteers and CEC unit heads at the event. The outreach program is expected to be an annual activity in honor of St. Francis Xavier.
