With the theme “𝘕𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘴𝘰𝘨 𝘯𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘰, 𝘕𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘬𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘨𝘰𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘉𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴” (Rising Currents, Resounding Voices), Buklad Fest 2025 responded to the challenges posed by Severe Tropical Storm KristinePH and Super Typhoon Pepito by offering a platform for collective healing through creative expression. Through art exhibitions, cultural performances, film screenings, and lectures, Buklad Fest 2025 reaffirmed the cathartic potential of the arts, using creativity to address the impacts of natural and human-made disasters.
The Buklad Festival 2025 commenced on February 15 at the Alingal Multipurpose Hall, marking the beginning of a dynamic celebration of arts and culture. The opening day featured a lecture series exploring the intersection of the body, knowledge, and artistic creation, alongside discussions on Bikol women and ecology. The day concluded with a film screening of JL Burgos’ Alipato at Muog, highlighting narratives of resilience and social awareness.
On February 24, the Buklad Festival 2025 Art Exhibit highlighted art as a powerful tool for storytelling and reflection. Featuring sessions with Mr. Tatud Tatud and Mr. Renato Jimenez, the event fostered meaningful discussions on creative expression. An open forum, awarding ceremony, and photo session capped off the celebration, reinforcing the festival’s mission to amplify voices through art.
The spotlight shifted to “Digital Arts in Motion”, a talk and showcase by Mr. Patrick Aaron R. Molaer (MCGA) from 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM through zoom meeting, exploring the dynamic intersection of technology and creativity.
On February 26, the Buklad Festival 2025 highlighted art’s healing power with an art exhibit and an art therapy session titled “Art as Therapy” by Dee Jai at Richie Fernando Hall.
The evening featured another round of theater performances, showcasing “Elya na si Baby Gelo,” “Kuya, Mabuhay ka!,” and “Dugo ni Mama” from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM, continuing to bring powerful narratives to life on stage.
On February 27, the Buklad Festival 2025 showcased the power of movement with a Ballroom Dance Workshop titled “Resilience in Motion.” Led by Rodrigo Earl P. Peñaredondo and Marianne M. Espanto, the workshop ran from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, highlighting dance as a form of strength, expression, and perseverance.
The week-long event concluded with Buklad x Silakbo Arts and Culture Night, which brought together music, performances, and cultural showcases from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the ADNU Xavier Hall in partnership with the ADNU Liderato kan Nueva Atenista.
