My approach to the theme Rebirth was looking at it with a more religious and mythological view as I was more interested in the deeper details and intricate findings that could be used to create more in depth or developed pieces, looking into fantasy elements and the extravagant things I can do so I can really create a thematic piece of work that has a lot of meaning behind it and really creates a "scene". This caused me to spend longer than expected researching the topics I was interested in as I spent a long time looking at what I could create depending on which path in the theme I followed rather than only viewing the surface level of detail in a mind map.
I looked at some specific instances in games that use ideas of rebirth that sparked some interest in the theme and how I could adapt it (leading to my multiple ideas for final product) but over all I was a lot more interested in creating work based in reality with rebirth. The path that I liked the most out of all that I explored was a Japanese themed Rebirth with Shinto and Bushido which I could twist the ideas of and look more in depth at so I could use the topics that I was interested in, in real life, in my work. This then followed my creative process of ideas generation created multiple themes based off an original idea I had that was inspired from a work I had already seen. So my idea came from a combo of a work piece I saw and Japanese religion (with things like architecture, culture and mythos). I was interested in created a piece inspired by Japanese themes.
Although my end product wasn't as direct in it's approach with linking to Japanese rebirth, showing off stuff like Japanese mythos and religious items. It is connected in a much more spiritual level (like the Buddhism it's based off). The ideas of Bushido and Buddhism with the religious Torii gate to mark a holy place or a gate to a more spiritual realm is deformed and destroyed by the human aspect of war and it's remnants around the scene. With broken sections, torn banners, arrows & swords you can really see how the war and reality is conflicted against the Religious elements in the scene. The rebirth is very symbolic as with the ideas of Bushido and having that honor in another life it affects morals and spirituality. Reborn in war, Reborn as a warrior, Reborn after death with honor, honor over life, 2 sides of the coin of spiritual vs reality and the link between them (death and religion).

When it comes to the proposal vs final product it's similar to what I was talking about earlier with the more spiritual approach rather than physical due to time constraints with what I could make and ability but also with the change in thematic as I was slowly making and building up the piece. So in the proposal I talk about how I want this physical difference with Japanese mythos and spiritual good in religion vs evil and war and how you can see 2 sides of the same coin with the Bushido and samurai of that time.
my lack of ability did lead to me not being able to achieve all of my goals and my original vision but it didn't change that I still achieved the spiritual rebirth and theme I was going for in the meaning of the scene. Almost as If I built the base and foundation but just didn't add those extra things or the polish. I created all the main assets and models and decided on my final piece being that diorama but just didn't add the models or 2D aspects of Spiritual stuff. (or adding any more in depth foliage due to time or ability constraints).
I got the aspects from this: (images from proposal/ research I did)
but didn't add these elements:
