AKA: What you can hear in Games
Game: Destiny 2
Combat: Sounds of Shooting & reloading. Clear audio ques to deliver impact of high damage hand cannon giving a high impact and deep boom to the shot of the gun. Clear high pitch metallic clicking as the mechanisms in the gun such as the cylinder spin and the magazine being placed inside. Alongside the animation delivers clear ques of gun being reloaded.
Movement: Running & Jumping sounds. Distinct whoosh on sprint to signify the start of the action then followed with fast heavy footsteps for the continued run. Clear landing sounds to signify upon touching the ground and the jump is over almost click esc. Then for continued jumping e.g double or triple jumps, there is a distinct high pitch whoosh or thrust noise to relay to the player the extra jump thrust has started.
Combat: Using abilities. For the grenade there is a scuttering esc cracking which gets quieter as it travels further away before making an explosive crack upon making contact for clear ques for when thrown and activation. For the throwing knives, they make a similar sound to the grenade when thrown but a higher pitch which then dissipate after reaching a certain distance aka can hear the movement/speed of it as it you throw it out. Finally the dodge making a sound akin to a gust of wind to relay that you have dodged / travelled a set distance fast.
Running in water - clear splashes to signify where and what you are walking on, sound then portrays environment so you can judge surrounds purely off sound.
Beacon / Marker - distinct beeping/pinging to signify a marker or place of interest, similar to a sort of radar warning or notification. Acting like an audio radar for point of interest.
"Super Charged" - sound to indicate that your super ability is ready and it's cooldown is finished. Used to notify players even if they aren't looking at their screen with a close & loud thump to a long whoosh.
Combat: Getting hit / red screen marker: enemies firing their laser weapons making buzzes that you can track by ear to signify enemy combat before receiving impact noises (impact of enemy bullets/shots) and player grunts (discomfort, something wrong) to note that your character has been hit.
Shimmering esc noises to notify the player of the menu being brought up, constant high pitch but discreet humming to keep up the notifying of the open menu. Also helpful for audio stimulation for a sci fi effect on bringing up companion.
Distinct Sci Fi effect and noises of a transmat (spawning in of) and engine start up noise of the sparrow (sci fi bike/vehicle) to give impact to the spawning of your vehicle. With the engine start to show you are ready for travel giving that humming before it gains a higher pitch when moving to show the increase of engine use before finally a distinct whirring of the engine when the thruster is used all before a click to denote thruster use.
