Week of Sept. 4-8
We will begin our week by completing the iReady Beginning of the Year Diagnostic.Â
After completing the diagnostic, students will begin working on lessons for their path on skills that they need to work on. We will be sending out more information about weekly iReady expectations.
I will be completing beginning of the year phonics/word reading and spelling patterns this week with small groups while others work on journal writing, independent reading, and reading skills.
Look for spelling lists to begin next week! They will take a pretest on Monday and then have homework on the words that they missed and only have to re-test on the words missed. I will send home more information with the first list.
We have been getting on chromebooks and joining and signing into various websites we may use throughout the year. All login information will be on a sheet that we will staple to the front of their planner.
Students will be joining my Google Classroom, logging in to a site, Epic!, that has books to read online, and other reading sites.
We will begin reading a novel next week together in class.
In Social Studies, students will be working on learning their emergency contact information. We will also be looking at map skills and geography terms and looking at where North Carolina is located in relation to the world.
