Written Test: Panguitch Students can take and pass the written test prior to going to the Drivers License Office. Tests are typically given before or after school as time permits. To schedule a test contact Mr. Bennett.
Class: There are typically 2 classes taught per year, one shortly after school starts and one starting in January. State rules state that students must attend at least 27 classroom hours of instruction. Students missing class to the point where they don't meet this requirement will be asked to retake the class.
Driving: Students must drive for at least 6 hours and observe other student drivers for 6 hours. The driving is typically done in two phases. The first phase involves gathering a few students and driving around St. George. This gives students experience on the freeway, at busy intersections and roads, on 2-lane and 3-lane turns, and roundabouts. The second phase is driving around Panguitch practice the maneuvers needed to pass the driving test.
Learners Permit: Unless a student is 18 or older, they must have their learners permit for at least 6 months prior to obtaining a drivers license. Students are able to obtain a permit once they are 15 by passing the written test and submitting the approved forms the the drivers license division. It is a good idea for students to get as much drive time as possible during their "Learners" period. Studies show that the more observed driving a student does helps them to have fewer crashes once they get their license.
