This portion of the Guidance webpage is dedicated to our new grade 9 students only. Here you will find information that pertain specifically to you. Whether you are on your way into grade 9 or you are currently in grade 9, this webpage will help you navigate through Westmount and hopefully help you with a successful transition into your grade 9 year.
Remember, if you have questions you can ask any of your teachers or drop by Guidance anytime and speak with a Counsellor. We may be older than you but we all remember what it was like to be in grade 9!
Grade 9's are encourage to visit the Grade 9 Public Folder for helpful information such as grade 9 elective course descriptions, the difference between de-streamed and academic, a list of clubs and teams and much more.
We also encourage you to take a tour of the entire Guidance website and the school website since it may answer a lot of your questions. Also, you can follow Westmount Guidance on Facebook and @WCIGuidance on Twitter. This is a great way to stay in the loop and up-to-date on announcements, news and other important information.

The “Come Up Summer Program” for self-identifying Black students who are entering grade 10 in September 2022
Students will explore the history of Black and/or African peoples in Canada. Students will explore historical developments and events in the countries of origin of Canada's diverse Black/African population, the factors that influenced voluntary and forced migration to Canada, and their contributions to Canadian identity and heritage. It will also feature various speakers from the Black community. Each activity/workshop will use an identity affirming approach with emphasis on student engagement to build positive self-esteem for Black students. Students will have the option to use this credit to fulfill the grade 10 compulsory History credit.
Students will also receive free lunch and swag bags.
