The above folder includes everything you need to complete your course selection.

You may notice that some courses in your previous years may not be correct or missing. Please DO NOT WORRY about it. Continue with your course selection. You will be able to SUBMIT as of Tuesday, Feb. 16th and your course selection is DUE on Friday, Feb. 25th.

Course Verification Distributed: Week of March 21, 2022

Please note that your verification form is NOT YOUR TIMETABLE. The verification form is just a list of the courses you selected for next year. There are no guarantees that you will get all the courses that you requested. All verification forms must be returned with a parent/guardian signature with or without changes.

Pre-recorded ZOOM Course Selection ROLL OUT Information
January 2022
All teachers have been instructed to allot class time for the viewing of Course Selection Information Video. There is a information video for each grade which was pre-recorded by the Guidance Team. If you are in grade 11 or 12 and have a spare during the class/period assigned for presentation, then you will need to watch the appropriate “how to select your courses” video. They are in the Google folder.

These sessions are a great opportunity for students to ask quick questions about course selection:

How to register and participate in workshop
1. Send an email to cindy.pearlstein@yrdsb.ca with the following information:
In the Subject Line: Drop in Session for Course Selection - Sign up
In the email: Your First Name, Last Name, Current Grade
2. The sessions will have a limited number of spots. If a sessions fill up, we will add more dates.
3. The location to your session will be sent to your GAPPS account the day before the session
4. For Virtual students, Cameras must be working and turned on to participate. You will be removed from the session if your camera is not on.
Individual appointment with your Counsellor:
Counsellors will be available starting the week of February 16th for appointments. Sorry, not before.
Come in to Guidance or Reach out to your Mrs. Pearlstein to schedule a zoom appointment.
It does not matter if you meet with a Counsellor AFTER the course selection due date. Your counsellor can make changes to your selection at any time.
Students must be present at the zoom meeting if scheduled by a family member.

What to Consider when Verifying
Check your course selection carefully
- Did you pick the courses you intended to pick?
- Did you pick enough courses..
Students going into Gr. 9
- Students must select eight courses
- Six of the courses are compulsory and two are electives
- You will also have to select two alternative course
Students going into Gr. 10
- Students must select eight courses
- Five of the courses are compulsory (Careers and Civics count as one credit) and three are electives.
- Students may select a grade 9 course if the course is required for graduation
- You will also have to select two alternative course
Students going into Gr. 11
- Students must select eight courses
- Two of the courses are compulsory and six are electives
- Spares may not be requested at the time of course selection
- Students may select a grade 10 course if the course is required for graduation
- You will also have to select two alternative course
Students going into Gr. 12
- Students must select a minimum of six courses, it is recommended that students choose 7 or 8 courses
- Students must be full-time, 3 courses in each semester
Returning Gr. 12 Students
- Students returning for a full year must select a minimum of six courses
- Students returning for only one semester must select a minimum of three courses
Gr. 12 Students who plan to GRADUATE
- Log into myPathway planner and indicate you will be graduating.
- Follow the instruction provided to indicate "Not Returning"
Make Corrections
- cross out the course you do not want and write in the course code of the course you do want.
No Corrections
- put a check mark next to each course and sign-off as OKAY
Sign and Drop Off
- Have your parent/guardian sign the form and drop the form off in the guidance office by the date indicated on the form. All forms must be returned with a parent/guardian signature, with or without changes
NUMBER OF COURSES TO MAINTAIN IN YOUR TIMETABLE:
"Students should take four courses a semester until they have 24 credits. When you have 24 credits, you may take three courses per semester" .... IF you are on track to graduate.
