Learning Objectives
FH and BH technique (go to the technical overview for more detail.
FH and BH positioning
FH and BH mobility
Mental: fighting for every point and trying our best during practice
Instructions
Can use any ball
Good shoulder and hip turns
Alternate both sides as much as possible
Make each other move
Can progress to a game and if to easy try to use full court
Instructions
Mini tennis controlled hitting warm up
A cooperation drill
Both players move away from each other (see the video)
You can bounce ball up and/or down the get timing and position right before hitting
Do this few rounds until you get that nice rhythm
If video is too hard you can catch ball then drop hit
And if it’s too easy try doing it in a row or try to swap court with partner while keeping the rally going
Instructions
A basic drill to work on technique and movement
Always make sure you give partner time to recover back to the middle
Make sure you stand in front of the one hitting the ball
You can do this 3 sets for each side then swap with your partner
To make it challenging you can put some targets and try and knock them down
Remember to check technique for your partner and always keep your balance
Instructions
This game has 3 stages
For you to win you have to finish 3rd stage first without missing a shot
When you finish stage 1 you have to let partner do stage 1 first, and so on
Still working movement and technique but with more fun and a bit more challenging
If you miss at any point then you swap with your partner
You can make it easy by staying around service line
If you want it to be harder then add some rules/conditions or put some targets
Three Stages
Stage 1 Junior School
Hit 3 in a row each side without missing
Follow the same pattern as drill #3
So this is easy stage as you know where the ball is going
Stage 2 Middle School
Hit 3 shots in a row each side but now the feeder can do it randomly, first three balls to the FH, second three balls to the BH
A bit challenging because they can try and trick you so have to be on your
toes and ready always
Stage 3 High School
Final stage you have to hit 6 balls in a row and it can be FH or BH
So even more challenging because you have to cover both sides now
Instructions
The first shot has to land inside the court
As long as the ball is bouncing you can still keep the rally going
You only lose point if ball rolls on court or it stops bouncing
Good practice to keep fighting and not giving up on any point
To make it harder set rules like you can only bounce or tap three times then you need to hit it over
