We have developed a pathway for students from K1 to G12, to cater to all levels and abilities throughout our weekday after school activities programme, selective teams and weekend programme.
We have aligned with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) approach, which provides a guide for optimal development based on growth and development of individuals, as well as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) guide to court size, and type of ball to ensure optimal learning, development and enjoyment.
We have tried to ensure the pathway is a clear overview for parents to understand where their child may begin their journey and where the student can go with their tennis depending on the direction they choose.
It is important to follow the recommended guidelines for ball type, court size and rackets to ensure optimum learning. As you see from this diagram the modified balls bounce lower and move through the air slower, ensuring the bounce is at the optimum height for the player. Often we see parents wanting to move their child to the next stage too soon which results in the child playing the ball from above waist height which compromises the technique and often reduces the success rate.
