As UWCSEA Phoenix coach (responsible of red & yellow stage), Assri will be involved in all coaching programmes and administration.
Assri Merzuki is originally from Malaysia with 20 years of playing experience and 8 years of coaching experience. A former number 1 ranked player in his home country, Assri has represented Malaysia in prestigious events such as the Davis Cup and Southeast Asian Games, where he won a bronze medal in 2015. He has also achieved notable success in international tournaments, reaching career highs of ATP singles #1333 and ATP doubles #794. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to hit with several top players, including Kei Nishikori, David Ferrer, Stanislas Wawrinka, Nick Kyrgios, and Leander Paes.
A certified tennis coach with both ITF and RPT qualifications, he provides both coaching and sparring sessions for children and adukts. Throughout his coaching career in Phuket and Kuala Lumpur, he has worked with players of all ages and abilities, tailoring his coaching style to the individual needs and goals.
With his wealth of experience and passion as a former player and a coach, Assri is dedicated and eager to help the UWCSEA students improve their skills and reach their full potential on court.
