Guiding Statement

UWCSEA aims to inspire and empower students to discover Tennis as a lifelong passion, supporting the foundations for an active healthy lifestyle, personal development, positive interpersonal relationships and service to others.

The purpose of the Tennis programme is to:

  • Provide something for everyone - catering to all ages and abilities.

  • Develop players skills to reach their full potential.

  • Enable opportunities to appropriate levels of competition.

  • Build student character and leadership skills.

  • Instill the importance of teamwork, service and community.

The Tennis programme is extensive and inclusive, catering to all ages and abilities from K1 to G12. The programme utilises age appropriate low compression balls and modified equipment in line with international regulations to establish mastery and enjoyment.

Tennis at UWCSEA offers a range of pathways to provide opportunities based on student interest and abilities. Players may select the development programme that requires a weekly and seasonal commitment. Alternatively students may specialize in Tennis at a performance level and represent the school team from G4-G12, which provides competitive opportunities locally and internationally. The training commitment pre-season and in-season is multiple times per week, with the option to train all year.

Through the Tennis programme students learn and reflect upon the personal skills and qualities of our UWCSEA profile. Players learn the benefits of hard work, how to be resilient and how to best self manage their time. When setting goals and reflecting on development and performance, players are guided to be reflective and self critical and whether confronted by adversity or rewarded with success to remain honest and principled.

Placing great emphasis on teamwork, community engagement, student leadership and service programmes, UWCSEA Tennis aims to provide powerful and meaningful opportunities for our players to unite and serve the College and the wider Singapore community through their sport.
