Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is the College's senior wind band.

Advanced players of woodwind, brass and percussion may audition for a place in the band. Please contact Adrian Hill, adrian.hill@uwcsea.edu.sg, to arrange an audition. Please note that existing band members do not need to re-audition.

The Band

The Band is for brass, woodwind and percussion students Grade 3 - Grade 6 ABRSM/Trinity music exam standard to develop their ensemble skills in individual and combined - Brass, Woodwind and Percussion ensembles.

Intermediate Brass Band

The Intermediate Brass Band is for students from beginner level up to Grade 2 ABRSM/Trinity music exam standard.

The woodwind students play in the Woodwind Ensemble.

Senior Jazz Band

Senior Jazz Band consists of full sections and places are auditioned. Repertoire includes swing, blues, funk, rock and latin styles.

Middle School Percussion Ensemble

All students get the chance to perform on the timpani, marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, concert snare and bass drum and occasionally the drum set.

Phoenix Symphony Orchestra

Phoenix Symphony Orchestra is a project-based ensemble with featured performances at events such as OPUS. Rehearsals will take place as weekend intensives, with specific dates to be confirmed.

This ensemble will feature our most advanced musicians from across Dover, joining together to study and perform challenging symphonic repertoire.

String players from Temasek Strings and Phoenix Chamber Orchestra will be invited to join, while woodwind, brass, and percussion will be drawn from the Symphonic Band.

Membership in an existing department ensemble will be a prerequisite for joining the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra.

Phoenix Chamber Orchestra

Phoenix Chamber Orchestra is for highly skilled Middle and High School string players. Members must demonstrate excellent musicianship and discipline to perform challenging professional repertoire, providing a rewarding experience.

Temasek Strings

Temasek Strings is for Middle and High School students typically with more than seven years of playing experience. All students in this orchestra demonstrate very good technique, and the repertoire includes many standard masterworks. The name for the ensemble is inspired by the ancient name for Singapore.

String Explorers provides an ensemble based introduction to string playing for absolute beginners. Students will be allocated an instrument to ensure students work in a balanced ensemble. Opportunities will be available to learn violin, viola, cello and double bass.

Arioso

Arioso is a non-auditioned three-part choir for Middle School students who perform modern choral repertoire in contemporary popular genres. Students select one of the rehearsal times (Tuesday - soprano, Wednesday - mezzo, Thursday - alto).

World of Peace Choir

The World of Peace Choir is a smaller choral ensemble for students in Grades 6 to 8 who are passionate about singing and ready to extend their ensemble skills through part-singing. Harp Ensemble

The harp ensemble activity is an opportunity for harp players of all ages and abilities to develop their ensemble skills and have the opportunity to practise and perform as part of a small group rather than as a soloist. The music explored will be tailored to meet the ability level of each child in the ensemble. This activity is designed for an advanced beginner to an advance player. Not suitable for a complete beginner.

Middle School Rocks

Middle School Rocks ensembles give students the chance to explore and enjoy contemporary music styles. Participants will be grouped with other musicians and develop the skills to play, write, and perform as a band. This programme is designed for experienced musicians or students currently taking individual lessons.
