If you are applying for a Summer Internship placement or G12 Alumni placement in school- apply through the links at the bottom of the home page
Decide on the 2-3 field(s) you want to experience and focus just on them.
Use this email template to help you with applying to different establishments. Adjust as necessary
Reach out to family and friends. Ask them for contacts.
Don't be afraid to 'cold-call' potential hosts. Go into places you are interested in working at- with your CV and cover letter and just ask if you can leave your CV / cover letter there, or ask for a contact who you can reach out to via email.
Trawl websites of places you are interested in working at. There is usually a contacts page. Make the headline clear- ie: Looking for work experience/ an internship. Attach your CV and cover letter.
If you don't hear from a place you have written to- allow a week - and then write again, politely asking if they got your original documents and whether there would be a chance to connect.
If you still don't hear from them- try a third time another week later! These are busy people! (What have you got to lose?)
Remember any experience is good experience! Even serving in an ice-cream shop for a week can give you valuable experience of a small business/ entrepreneurship/ skills at dealing with customers/ problem solving/ dealing with money... all which can later help with university/ career applications.
