macOS Tahoe is the latest operating system available from Apple.
The macOS Tahoe release is defined by its bold new visual design, Liquid Glass, which brings sweeping aesthetic changes that may not appeal to everyone. While not a clear improvement for all users—introducing some usability and accessibility trade-offs—it's not a dealbreaker. Critics of the new look might still find the update worthwhile thanks to practical enhancements like Quick Keys, improved Shortcuts, better theming, and an upgraded Metal framework. Overall, even without the visual overhaul, Tahoe offers enough functional upgrades to justify the install.

As is always the case, you should backup your files in case the worst should happen. The easiest solution is to sign into iCloud and turn on iCloud Drive Desktop & Documents folder backups. See the Apple support article here.
You can also backup to your network folder or external storage devices by doing a simple drag-and-drop.
You may be prompted with notifications on your screen that there is an update available, or you can download the update through System Settings > General > Software Update.
Your laptop MUST have 50% charge or be plugged in to perform the update.
Save your work and close any open apps.
Be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes for the installation to finish. The lid of the laptop must remain open.
