Mr. Heredia is a Science and STEM teacher here at Wilson Middle School. He grew up in Stockton, CA. He has been teaching here for seven years. A fun fact about Mr. Heredia is that he has a skeleton named Charlie who lives in his classroom and is alive. Charlie loves to talk and interact with the students and give them fun lessons.
Some of Mr. Heredia's favorite things to do outside of school are read, play video games, such as zombie games, and watch Youtube. He also loves to hang out with his brother and his friends online.
Mr. Heredia taught a long time ago but took a break to be a County Inspector before deciding that his true passion was being in the classroom.
Something that Mr. Heredia wants his students to know is they are "kind, smart and important."

Ms. Rodriguez graduated from University California Merced to become an educator. In her free time Ms. Rodriguez enjoys tap dancing as well as Aztec dancing. She also likes to find deals by shopping at thrift stores. One of her biggest fears are snakes, not being on time to teach and SLEEPING PAST HER ALARMS. Ms. Rodriguez has some pet peeves, such as, chewing with your mouth open, wet socks with wet shoes, AND food still on dishes while she’s trying to wash them. Before she became an educator she worked at cold stone creamery. She says “I would try so many combos and different flavors of ice cream, I really liked it there.” However, after a while she got tired of eating ice cream because she would eat some everyday. Some things that put a smile on Ms. Rodriguez face is her first period class, “they are always energetic and very competitive” she states. Seeing us talk and getting along with our classmates is another one, along with being with her family/spending time with them and listening to good music. If you're in her class you know how much she enjoys listening to music.
The quote: “Walk like you have 1,000 ancestors behind you” is in a big poster in her class and turns out that is a quote she stands by, it means “how you hold yourself with integrity, hold yourself accountable” meaning to walk with confidence.

Mr. Martin is one of our 8th grade history teachers. Mr. Martin, believe it or not, has been working at Wilson Middle School for a long time. This is his 30th year working here as a history teacher! Mr. Martin chose to work as a history teacher because he really enjoys the histories of the past and his grandpa would tell him stories which passed down to him.
Now a fact about Mr. Martin is he’s a big raider fan and is favorite player right now is Max Crosby. His favorite snacks are peanuts, cashews, almonds basically any kinds of nuts. Also, something Mr. Martin likes to do in his free time is go hiking, spend time with his grandkids, barbeque, and he loves taking trips to the coast and mountains.
Another thing he enjoys doing is doing projects around the house, like building things hand on. He also likes to read and he’s always reading some sort of book whether it’s about history, or about reality.

Have you met one of our seventh grade teachers, Mr. Brinlee? He teaches History in room 27 and it is his third year here, and in the district. Mr. Brinlee thinks his students are great- and likes coming to school because of them. He's excited to see how test scores improve, see students promoted and the summer break!
He normally comes in around 7: 30-7:45, checks his email, reads manga and eats, and he even said “Baked chips are so much better than normal chips." When he gets home, normally, he plays video games, works out, and relaxes. If he could teach another subject, it would be ELA or band, because he likes to write non fiction and band.
Mr. Brinlee's favorite foods are pizza, steak and burritos- except without cheese, or beans! He grew up in Idaho, Missouri, and Kentucky; but was born in California, and came back his senior year! Some of his hobbies include going to the gym, sports, music (mainly metal music), and watching anime. His favorite color is green- and his dream car is a 1969 Pontiac Judge. His dream vacation is to tour Europe and visit soccer stadiums all over the world, and visit his favorite soccer team's stadium. Give a shout out to Mr. Brinlee next time you see him in the halls! We hope you have a great rest of your year!

This week's staff of the week is Mr. Pimentel! He is one of Wilson's history teachers. He started teaching in August of 2020 and he chose to be a teacher because, “being a tutor in high school made me realize I liked working and helping kids with their potential, and helping them learn to their full potential.” But why did he choose to become a history teacher you may ask? He chose to teach history because, “I've always had an interest in history growing up especially with the way my teachers taught me. It interests me with everything that went on in the past."
Aside from teaching history, Mr. Pimentel likes to play tennis, read books, and play video games. His favorite food is Chinese food because he likes the “taste” of it. While we’re on the topic of eating Mr. Pimentel hates when people chew loudly; he thinks this because “my brothers used to always chew loud.”
His favorite tv show is Parks and Recreation because “I love comedies and I like to go back and re-watch them.” Some of his life goals are to continue his career in education, earn his PHD in history, and to teach at a college grade level. His motivation to come be a teacher everyday comes from his students. He thinks this because, “I like to be able to work with students and to be able to see them grow everyday. I want to be sure to see them succeed and so they can find their own role model here on campus.”
Finally Mr. Pimentel's final word to all his students is, “I believe we are lifelong learners. We are learning something new everyday, and I believe that my students should continue to be curious lifelong learners no matter what we do, so they can continue to grow and succeed.” Mr. Pimentel is loved by many here on campus at Wilson and this is why Mr. Pimentel is this week's staff of the week.

Ms. Nagao has been working at Wilson for 15 years. She started working in January of 2009. She is very funny and a really cool person and she has a great personality. Her strengths are she has grit and she has the “ability to save the school.” She has 2 pets: a dog named Isabella, and a cat named Phineas. Both her pets are named after Phineas and Ferb.
She chose to work at Wilson because she loves working with kids and see them improve in a variety of ways. She went to college at Reedley college for her AA. Then she went to college at Fresno State for Kinesiology, and her teaching credentials. If she could work anywhere else it would be at Disneyland at the Haunted Mansion. She chose to teach P.E. because she can wear comfy clothes, move around and be with kids. If she teaches anything beside P.E. She would teach Health or Math. She listens to different types of music such as “country, hip hop/ rnb pop/rock oldies/classic rock Disney." Some things that terrify her are fear of falling at high heights, maggots and most parasites. Three words to describe Ms. Nagao are perseverance, honest, and strong.

Ms. Molina is an 8th grade physical education teacher; she has been teaching at Wilson for 29 years. Ms. Molina's favorite thing about being a PE teacher is “watching kids excited about learning.” Ms. Molina's hobbies are, “hiking, eating, golfing, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends. I was curious to know Ms. Molina's favorite sport. Her favorite individual sport is golf and her favorite team sport is basketball. Some of the things teaching has taught Ms. Molina is “sharing Ideas and reflecting on work.”
Mrs. Molina's goal is to, “stay healthy, keep brain sharp, serve others, and eat really good food.” If Ms. Molina wasn't a teacher; she would want to be a professional golfer or a paramedic.
Next year Ms. Molina is looking forward to learning with a new group of students and learning different things. Her favorite color is baby blue. She can't live without her family and friends, she has known her best friend since her sophomore year. Mrs. Molina's favorite quote is, “Be excellent to each other.”

This week we interviewed Mr. Voglin, one of the seventh- grade math teachers.. Mr. Voglin is well loved, and known by many students and staff, but with all of these kids, you must be wondering how he keeps up with every class. We’re here to answer some question for you, and he DEFINENTLY delivered.
One of the questions we asked Mr. Voglin was, “ why did you choose to teach math over everything else? Mr. Voglin says he chose it because "it is an important type of study that can help you in the future. I believe this is true because, who knows maybe you might actually need it if you're working in stocks or being a cashier at a store or restaurant." I don't know, but to Mr. Voglin it seems very important.
Another question we asked was, “ which class behaves the best?” Voglin says his second period, because it is his prep period. Come on, guys, behave. Anyways, we asked why his prep period is his favorite and he said “ because no one is really there to bother me while I'm working." I think he likes his working environment calm and quiet.
Two of the other questions we asked were “ if you could choose any other subject to teach, what would it be?” Of course, he said, history. He also said he has always been interested in history and that it is important to know ancient things/artifacts.

Mrs. Nunes is an 8th grade math teacher here at Wilson. She graduated from Fresno State in 2003, where she earned her teaching credentials. Mrs. Nunes is terrified of public speaking even though she is a teacher. She absolutely hates crowded spaces or being in the middle of them because she is claustrophobic. Loud eaters, people who drum on the table with pencils, disrespectful people, and people who blow bubbles with their gum are Mrs. Nunes pet peeves. She will get very annoyed, so if you're in her class try to avoid these. The things she likes to do in her free time is crocheting. She likes to do math, obviously since she's a math teacher.
Spending time with her family is something she enjoys because “life is too short and nothing ever lasts forever so you gotta make memories with them and spend time with them." She tries to avoid quite some things like not drinking coffee, negative people or people who are disrespectful, and laundry. I mean who actually likes doing chores? Anyways she also tries to avoid telephone calls, stating “back in my day the phones were connected to the wall and I would just hate standing there just having a conversation for a long time.” As you can see Mrs. Nunes is a very chill and cool person to be around with!

Mrs. Mendoza is a teacher here at Wilson Middle School, where she teaches 8th grade ELA. Mrs. Mendoza graduated from Fresno Pacific University, where she got her teaching credential. Her first job was at the Madera movie theaters where she was a janitor. Her favorite part about being a teacher is “when kids learn to think about themselves, and watching kids find stories that connect with them.” Something that Mrs. Mendoza is passionate about is her "students finding their purpose in their lives.” Something that motivates Mrs. Mendoza is “where I have a job where I go everyday where the goal is to learn, and have fun.” One of Mrs. Mendoza's weakness is “when my students start talking to me about something because I love talking to them all period long and telling stories; I could go the whole class talking to my students about something non-stop.”
Mrs. Mendoza is responsible for things that may happen. She is also a very nice person when you get to know her. She tries her hardest for her students to learn the best way possible as they can. Mrs. Mendoza loves making her students feel comfortable, and a place where they are welcomed.

Mrs. Hansell is an 8th grade ELA teacher, she has been teaching for 8 years, she also taught at an elementary school for 2 years. If Mrs. Hansell wasn't a teacher; she would want to be a librarian; she looked into becoming a librarian before she became a teacher. She loves reading fantasy books and sad books; she also enjoys hiking and being outdoors. Her favorite part of being a teacher is when she is teaching her students and “it’s like a lightbulb clicks in their brain” and they understand what she is teaching, and they feel confident about the material that is being taught. Mrs. Hansells’ favorite part of the year so far, is how the students still act like kids and still enjoy their time as kids, and don't try to grow up fast.
Three words to describe Mrs. Hansell are compassionate, understanding, and eccentric. I was wondering if Mrs. Hansell had to choose one book out of all the books she’s read to be her favorite, and she struggled, stating “Wow that's a really hard question.” She chose the Harry Potter series. If she had to choose one book from the series to be her favorite she says it would be the 6th book in the series. One thing Mrs. Hansell can't live without is Dr. Pepper, “I drink it everyday.” One thing teaching has taught Mrs. Hansell is, “there is never one way to do something; every student thinks in different ways.” I was curious to know Mrs. Hansells’ favorite movie, “That is almost as hard as saying my favorite book, it changes, but right now it's How To Train Your Dragon.” Mrs. Hansell watches How To Train Your Dragon one to two times a week. Her favorite color is any shade of blue or forest green. Mrs. Hansells favorite quote is “Words are the most inexhaustible source of magic”-Albus Dumledore.

Mr. Morgan is our SDC teacher here at Wilson. He’s been for a whopping two years. He is very thankful for his family and his health. He likes to spend his free time “playing golf and spending time with my family.” Something interesting about him is that he was named after the Shea Stadium in New York.
Mr. Morgan has many strengths, such as he is funny he can relate with the students he enjoys working with the students. He gets along with his students and he gets along with everybody. "He’s a great boss.”- Mrs.Sanchez, his aide that has worked with him for the past two year. A lot of people don’t know that he is pretty quiet outside of work. I asked Mr. Morgan what was his greatest accomplishment and he said “My wife and kids because I love them and they're amazing.” He’s motivated by his students, “them getting better each day motivates me.”

Ms. Garcia is an 8th grade science teacher. She loves doing science and likes teaching about her subject. She thinks helping students is a good thing and she enjoys doing it. She said, "I like how I teach students about learning and other subjects."
Her favorite holiday is Christmas because she likes spending time with friends. Her favorite sport is softball. Even though her favorite holiday is Christmas, her favorite season is fall because it's not too cold or not too hot. Every morning she makes sure to get ready and get a big cup of coffee, then leave early because she lives far from school.
Something she is excited for this year is meeting new students. She wants to teach more students about things and also make them learn in a fun way!

Ms. Linhares is 7th grade Enrichment, Science, and student council teacher here at Wilson Middle School. She’s always trying her hardest for each and every one of her students. She makes sure that her students understand what they’re learning; and when they don’t understand she tries her hardest to make sure that it makes sense to her students.
Ms. Linhares is also a very responsible person. She tries to get things graded and done for her students. Ms. Linhares became a teacher because she enjoys "working with young people and being a mentor to them and I also had a lot of great teachers growing up.”
In Ms. Linhares free time she likes to “hike as much as possible and to do stand up paddle boarding. I also like to coach basketball and watch true crime scenes.” Some of Ms.Linhares biggest fears are “birds because they are unpredictable and you never know what their next move is. As well as having a life where other people think that I’m successful, but internally I am not actually happy.” Ms. Linhares favorite season is “summer because I like to swim, hike, paddle board and just be outside.” She is kind, caring, and responsible. She is a very compassionate and happy person.

Mr. Garcia is a 7th grade science teacher here at Wilson, as you may know; but did you know that Mr. Garcia started teaching at Wilson in 2014, (that's like 6 years ago) as a math teacher? He also lives in Mariposa, which is about a 45 minute drive every weekday to Chowchilla so he can come and teach here. Pretty cool right, and that's not all there is about Mr. Garcia because he is an absolute W of a teacher.
As a father of two, and a school teacher, you can imagine how busy Mr. Garcia's schedule is. He drives to Chowchilla everyday, spending 6 hours here and then drives back another 45 minutes. Despite that he is still kind and accepting towards his students.
You may be asking why he chose to work here instead of in the town he actually lives in? Well to that he said ,“I decided that I’d rather teach in a community that I wasn’t living in. After teaching in Mariposa it became very problematic to separate the working relationships with families from the social relationships,” which is a pretty good point if you ask me. He also said the reason he started teaching was because he wanted to be able to give back to the community and he wanted to help young people elevate themselves and their lives. Again a pretty amazing person Mr. Garcia is.
As was mentioned before Mr. Garcia has kids, now I was not smart enough to ask their age, but Mr. Garcia said that his kids are what motivates him the most. Teaching them to have a “open mind and heart, a willingness to learn and admit mistakes, and an appreciation for hard work as well as silliness,” which I think we all can agree is a good thing to teach your young children. He also said he does in fact have hobbies outside of school like cooking, gardening and working out. He also emphasized the fact that he reads, which are some good hobbies to have for anyone really.
Some things that make his jobs harder are things most people can relate to like unhealthy food, his phone, energy drinks, and social media. Something he wants kids to know is that he doesn't like how poorly all middle school kids treat each other and their interactions are mostly negative.

This week's staff of the week is Mrs. Mendoza in the front office! Students love her because she is very nice and kind to them. Other students also think she is very helpful when they ask for her help.
She decided to work at Wilson because she loves working with kids. Her favorite memories here at Wilson are seeing kids promote at the end of the year because she loves seeing the smiles on kids faces once they finally graduate.
Her favorite thing to do at school is to welcome students when they come into the office throughout the day. Likewise, her favorite thing to do on her own time is to walk her dog because she feels like it's very calming and releases all her stress. Finally, she wants others to know that she will always be nice and friendly when you talk to her.

Have you met Mrs. Ortiz? She works in the office, as an Administrative Secretary. She's been working in the district for five years, and at Wilson for one year. She wanted to work here because she enjoys working and interacting with kids. She thinks there are a variety of students at Wilson, some are funny, some are good and some are interesting. She's excited to get things ready for promotion, watching kids promote, dances and movie nights.
After school she goes home, watches movies, relaxes and gets ready for the next day. If she could teach a subject it would be Art, and her dream job is to be an art teacher. Were rooting for you Mrs. Ortiz! Although she wants to be an art teacher, she likes her job. She enjoys doing office work while working with kids.
A little about Mrs. Ortiz is that she likes tacos, sopes and tamales. She is from Mexico, and her favorite colors are purple and black. Her dream vacation is to travel to Italy or Greece.

Ms. Terry works in Support Services at our school, and she has been working here for 3 years. She loves her students and loves the position she is in. I asked her what other position she would like to teach if she were to become a teacher and she said history.
Ms. Terry used to live in Madera, but was told about a job in a middle school in Chowchilla, and she decided to take the job. We are lucky she did.
I was also really curious about her morning routine. She said she wakes up, gets a cup of coffee, plays with her grandchildren, and she makes sure to get to school early.
Her favorite hobbies are traveling and just having fun. I also asked who her favorite teacher is, she said Mrs. Henley. She loves the band Pink Floyd. It's her favorite. She loves to listen to it at break time. I also asked what she likes to watch in her free time at home. She said she's really interested in Ninja Kids, which is “a tv show of kids that like to do fun and amazing things.”
Lastly she said she is so excited to meet new kids and teachers this year!

Mrs. Stojanovski is our Wilson Art Teacher. Mrs. Stojanovski wanted to teach art because she loves to work with kids and she loves art. Together they make a wonderful combination. Her biggest challenge as an art teacher is helping kids understand that their artwork is unique, and they are their own critic. At this grade level it is hard for them to play with art in front of their peers."
I asked her what she likes about being art teacher, and she said “The students. I like coming to school everyday; I like when students create artwork because it feels like Christmas to me.” She says if the kids are enjoying what they are doing it's not a difficulty to handle them.” I also have a button in the back of the classroom that I push to suck up the naughty kids in the vent.”
Mrs. Stojanovski likes to sculpt and paint and she plays violin and travel with her husband. Impartial people motivate her. When I asked her where do you see yourself in ten years she says it's a secret.

Ms. Jaramillo is our school librarian, who started almost a year ago in January! This is her first time working in Wilson Middle school as a librarian.
She decided to work here because she is able to work with students this age, building connections and it is a great opportunity in her life. When talking about students, she thinks that she sees a lot of personalities to work with. She also loves seeing students enjoy the library. If Ms. Jaramillo would teach a subject, she would pick ELD because it is something she relates to when growing up. She relates by helping students develop learning skills in English.
Some Ms. Jaramillo’s favorite things to do are outdoor activities! She loves hiking, going to the river and watching sunsets. She likes chocolate, Mexican food and butterflies.
Ms. Jaramillo has two daughters and a cat named Pablo. Her daughters inspire her because they make her be the best version of herself as mom. She wants them to see her happy and hopefully be a good example for them.
I asked if Ms. Jaramillo if she wanted to say anything else, and she said. “to live your life, the way it makes you happy because you only get one life.”
Ms. Jaramillo is a very kind person to meet at school; feel free to talk to her at school anytime!

She motivates students by getting them to believe in themselves and to get them to think about their decisions. Friday, Dec 8 is Mrs. Cudias' birthday! If you see her around campus, give her a shout.
Mrs. Cudia has been working in the Chowchilla School District for 7 years. She didn’t know if she wanted to become a teacher. It had first just passed by in her head when she was a junior in high school, but it wasn’t until college that she realized becoming a teacher was what she wanted. She decided to teach Language Arts because she loves reading and writing, and she wanted to teach kids to love it as much as she does.
I asked Mrs. Cudia what she would choose as a job instead of being a teacher; and she said that since she was little she wanted to become a veterinarian. She loves dogs and is a huge animal lover. Growing up the reason though why she didn’t choose that career was because she couldn’t imagine having to put a dog down or be the reason of the animals death. Veterinarians also have a higher risk of suicide and/or depression, which is a very real and tough thing to think about.
Some things she likes to do in her free time is walk her dog, read (of course,) and crochet. She can only make blankets though. During her free time, she also likes to snack. Her go to snack is usually Nacho Cheese Doritos, but she’s been into more fruit lately.
I asked her personal questions about becoming a new mother and something she looks forward to is doing activities with her baby girl. She has always wanted a girl and said that she had a feeling it was going to be one and I mean she wasn’t wrong. Mrs. Cudia thinks it’s also a major adjustment since this is her first kid, but she sees it as a fun experiment where other first time mothers would find it stressful.
Mrs. Cudia is truly one of a kind, she has a very loud personality (except for Mrs. Hansell they are about the same).

Mrs. Maldonado is a 7th grade math teacher who has been working as a teacher for four years now, but it's her first time in our district. Her first year teaching was during distance learning on zoom.
She loves math and working out puzzles because she loves the challenge. In her words, “in solving any math problem there could be many solutions.” She used to teach 8th grade math, but switched to 7th grade math. Though she may be strict at times, she loves teaching and decorating her room with very spooky décor. This is because she loves scary movies and the adrenalin that comes with it.
Though she loves scary movies her favorite is The Nightmare Before Christmas because it has a mixture of both Halloween and Christmas, which are two of her favorite holidays. However, Halloween is the favorite of the two.

Do you know Mrs. Dias? Mrs. Dias is our new Site Day School, or SDS, teacher. Mrs. Dias has been teaching for a while. She came from Ronald Reagan just this year. She told us the reason she came to Wilson was because she wanted to work in a middle school, wanted a new program, and wanted to provide help and support to Wilson. Mrs. Dias told us she thinks her students are brilliant and can do anything they put their minds to. She is excited to see her students get out of her own classroom and use the skills she taught them in their everyday lives.
When Mrs. Dias gets to school she normally checks her email, turns her fairy lights on, and checks Google classroom. She has one pet, which is a French Bulldog named Walter, and he's five years old. Mrs. Dias told us if she could teach another subject, it would be science because she used to work in a plant field. Mrs. Dias explained that her favorite thing about her job is the fact she can experience life through her students' eyes and is inspired to help them with their dreams.
Let's welcome Mrs. Dias to Wilson. Let's have a great year!

We have a new ELA teacher this year, Ms. DeHart. This is her first year teaching in Chowchilla. She’s told us she's excited to see students learn, and get better at writing and reading. She joined Wilson because she enjoys the support of other experienced teachers. Ms. DeHart said she likes her students, they are smart, interesting and even a little strange; but she thinks that's a good thing! Every morning she sets up her stuff, reviews school work, and then takes a short minute to meditate and relax. At home she enjoys spending time with her family, doing yoga, reading, and listening to podcasts.
If she could teach another subject it would be Pre-Law, and for college students. Ms. DeHart is from the central valley, mainly Modesto, and her dream vacation is to visit New Orleans.

Mr. Zuniga is a very bright and sunny person. He's kind and very funny. Mr. Zuniga has been working in schools since his junior year in high school. He used to be an aid and was inspired to become a psychologist from working with the special needs kids. He wanted to help kids. He used to follow around the psychologist at his old school and thought he should give it a try.
Mr. Zuniga has been working as a School Psychologist for eight years now. Some of his favorite things to do after school are exercising, reading, socializing, and listening to podcasts/music. During school he loves to listen to the students talk. When I was interviewing him for this article I noticed that he was very kind and funny. Instead of getting upset when people said he looked like Andrew Tate he laughed along and said, “I'm much nicer, but I wouldn't mind having his money.”
We are very excited to have Mr. Zuniga on our campus full time this year. If you see him out in the quad, stop by and say hello!

“Everyone has a story, and
your the author of yours.”
Mrs. Plascencia is our new school counselor. She has worked as a marriage, and family therapist, and she was a clinical psychologist. She has been teaching in schools since 2014 and has been a counselor since 2001. As you can see she loves being a counselor and working with kids, even though sometimes they misbehave. She was also a school psychologist, and counselor. She also used to work with kids that were in juvie and on probation. She would work with them about their feelings and most of them cooperated; while other’s weren’t ready to open up just yet. Although, she was most passionate about being a school counselor, she loves providing help for kids because she feels like it’s already hard enough being a kid and sometimes those kids don’t have somebody to go to so she is happy that she can be somebody to be there for the students when they are in need. She loves spending time with family and friends (especially her twin #1Mrs. Plascencia).
She loves to go on hikes to see nature, she loves to garden if you have ever been inside her office she has many plants that she attend’s to everyday. She is also a fan of dancing to merengue while cleaning her home. Now, Mrs. Plascencia always knew that she wanted to help other kids at a young age, and so did her sister, who is also Mrs. Plascencia. This is also the first time that they are working in the same school district.
What she is most excited about working in Wilson Middle School, is meeting all of the students and learning all about our school. Mrs. Plascencia really enjoys kit-kat bars, and fruit. She was born in Jalisco, Guadalajara and she also really LOVES paletas de Guiava, and Guava ice cream! While others had dreams of being a doctor or astronaut, Mrs. Plascencia’s dream job was always being a school counselor and working with kids, she is thankful and excited to wake up everyday knowing she is coming to work everyday doing something she loves.
