Today I asked 6 people what some of their favorite activities for the summer are. Most of these answers involved swimming and water, but others were staying inside and gaming.
During these interviews I found many people like swimming, camping, and going to the beach. 3 out of 6 people said they like swimming. They also like going to the beach. One person I interviewed was Ms. Richards, in room 13, she said "swimming helps me find her happy place." Many people said they loved going in water during the summer to help cool-down. Another water related activity that was mentioned was fishing. Angel Fernandez-Vera quoted “I like to fish in the summer because a lot of bass spawn, and that makes them more active, so I can catch them.”
A lot of people had said that they LOVE hanging out with friends because they help make life exiting and fun. Alyssa Dennison quoted “I love going places and exploring new things with my friends. My parents love how I'm always with my friends and not being in trouble.” Sandra Castaneda also said she likes to travel with friends because they make her happy.
Students said traveling during the summer is more fun because they are trying new things while traveling and in general. Jayden Mahil quoted “I like traveling because it involves not going to school.” And when I asked him what other activities he liked to do during the summer he said “ not going to school.”

Christmas Tree Lane is located in Fresno, Ca. For the month of December, Van Ness St. participates in a beautiful tradition where the entire street decorates itself every year with beautiful lights. There are certain days during the month that people can walk through the neighborhood, but everyone is encouraged to drive down the street and enjoy the lights. Due to the elaborate decorations of the houses and the popularity of this tradition, Christmas Tree Lane can become incredibly packed and hard to drive through. Despite the endless traffic, it is still a good way to spend time with family and other loved ones.
Christmas Tree Lane started in 1920 when a boy's family decorated a tree to honor his passing, and ever since then, every year, more and more people added lights until the entire street got in on it. They put up bigger and better displays of Christmas lights. Ever since people come every year to bask in the beauty of the Christmas Tree Lane.
It's a beautiful tradition, and if you go this Christmas it's hard to believe that all the beauty started with just a single tree.

The annual Christmas tree lighting that was at Veterans Memorial Park here in Chowchilla on Saturday, Dec 2nd. It was bright and joyful. They had food trucks, drinks, and even different booths where people could buy things. It started at 5:30 to 8:00.
There was a nice fun Christmas vibe. After the tree lighting, Cornerstone Church performed some Christmas songs for the town to enjoy. They even passed out free hot chocolate as they lit the tree. After the tree was lit it was so pretty! It had tons of colors and was absolutely beautiful.
Before lighting the tree, there was the holiday parade where floats from different businesses in town drove down Robertson Blvd. When asked, some students said their favorite floats were the Pedro's Pizza float, and the train which was decorated as the Polar Express. The reason why they liked the Pedro's Pizza float was because they had decorated one of their tiny cars like a sleigh.

This past weekend was the Madera Fair! The Madera Fair went on for 3 days. Throughout these days people went on rides, played games, and bought items from vendors. These vendors carried food, etc.
The rides at the Madera fair were all very exciting. I asked people what their favorite rides were and why and here's what they said: "The Teacups because they make me dizzy”- A four year old.
“The Zipper mostly because it gives me an adrenaline rush and it's very fun.”-A 10 year old.
“ Personally, I like the Ferris Wheel because that's where my husband and I met.”- A lady in her 20s
I went on these rides myself and I thought they were very fun.
These rides either calm you down or make you feel like you're gonna die. The Zipper rotates on an oval shape and spins around. The Ferris Wheel rotates in a circle shape, but doesn't move that much. The Teacups spin round and round in a circle and the platform spins in a circle.
PRO-TIP don't eat food before going on the teacups.
The vendors will try to get you to buy anything in their stand. These stands had jewelry, toys, blankets, jerseys, and more. Some vendors are a little sketchy but very nice. The food vendors had delicious food. Fan favorites were the rainbow grilled cheese, cotton candy, and onion rings. People said they also loved the Quesa Birria tacos.
