BEFORE YOU REGISTER, you will need to do a number of things to prepare. Start with these NOW:
Go to OrangeAbroad and look under Registration Appointment & Instructions to find your registration start date and time. Not everyone will enroll on the first day.
… or go to MySlice > “Enrollment” tile. Under Enrollment Dates, see appointments for Flex Long Class.
You may register only for courses at the Madrid Center during this registration appointment.

Updated Schedule of Classes and Timetable
Do not select first-choice courses that meet at the same time. You'll receive an error message if you try to register for conflicting classes. Use the Timetable to help you avoid this.
Prerequisites are listed in the “Requisites/Restrictions/Notes” column on the Schedule of Classes.
Some courses are restricted to students who have had prior course experience. Be sure you have met any prerequisites for a course you plan to take.
If you do not meet a prerequisite, you may not register for the course during online registration (enrollment priority goes to students who meet the prerequisite). Syracuse Abroad reserves the right to drop a student from any course for which you are deemed ineligible based on the transcript information available to us.
If the system blocks you from a course during online registration and you believe you have the necessary background, email the Academic Team with the course number, title, and supporting information and documentation demonstrating that you're eligible for the course.
Enroll in an alternative class during online registration if needed to meet the 12-credit minimum.
Following review and if there are open seats in the course, students without the prerequisite may be allowed to enroll with permission from Syracuse Abroad.
If you have not yet determined your level of Spanish, or if you need help or more information, please see Register for Spanish now.
You must register for at least 12 credits taken in Madrid per Spanish immigration.
During online registration, MySlice will not allow you to register for more than 17 credits of courses, unless you emailed to say that you plan to register for up to 19 credits. If you attempt to register over 17, you will receive the error message “Maximum term student unit load exceeded.”
If you need to register for more than 17 credits, email the Academic Team PRIOR to the start of online registration..
Spring semester students: Any Winterlude credits count against your total spring credits even though the tuition is separate. If your credit total will be greater than 17 with your Winterlude credits, you must notify us by email well before your registration appointment.
They are highlighted in the third column of the Schedule of Classes. You will enter these numbers to add the courses to your Shopping Cart.
If a course you plan to take is NOT listed with a 5-digit code and reads "ADMIN" instead, you do not need to register online for that class. Syracuse Abroad will administratively add the course to your enrollment. CAS 200 is added before online registration. Signature Seminar (is applicable) is added after online registration concludes.
You will need these to access MySlice for course registration.
You’ll need your SUID number to activate your NetID.
Visiting Students: Find your SUID number in OrangeAbroad.
If you have not used MySlice before, not yet activated your account, or have forgotten your password, you can set up a new account or reset your password at the IT Services website. Do this now! Access is not immediate, so don't wait until the day your appointment begins.
If you have activated your account and SU email but forgotten your NetID, consult the NetID self-service site.
Log into MySlice. Periodically the system will require you to verify your contact information. Once you select any of the links in Student Services, you will automatically be forwarded to any items that must be reviewed.
This is also your chance to update any contact information that may have changed.
You may also have to acknowledge that you have read a summary of SU’s Academic Integrity expectations.
Log into MySlice using your NetID and password.
Go to Student Home > “Holds” tile to see if any hold is on your account.
If yes, resolve it right away by contacting the office that placed the hold (search "holds" in the FAQs). You cannot register with a hold on your account.

The Shopping Cart saves your class selections until your appointment allows you to register.
Put all your first-choice courses and some alternative selections in your Shopping Cart prior to registration. You will register for only 13 to 17 credits but, if some classes are closed, you will have alternatives ready to choose from.
When your registration appointment begins, log back into MySlice, click the boxes next to your first-choice courses and click Enroll to register for classes. Alternative classes remain in your cart for selection if needed.
