You can make changes to your registration until your appointment closes at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19.
After online registration closes, changes cannot be made until the Schedule Adjustment period in January.
If you are closed out of a course that fulfills a specific academic requirement, check with your home college to see if another course will meet the same requirement or if you have other options in future semesters.
If the requirement cannot be met by another course offered during the semester abroad, and
If you must take the class this semester in order to stay on track for graduation...
... document this need by requesting your home college submit the Academic Need Verification Form. The form must be signed by a school official who is familiar with all of your remaining degree requirements. For matriculated SU students, this should be your primary school or college academic advisor.
We will make every effort to meet your confirmed academic need.
All students must be registered for at least 12 credits of Madrid classes including CAS 200.
To be considered, completed forms must be received by Friday, December 6, at 5 p.m. Eastern US time.
You will have an opportunity to make changes to your registration starting in January before Madrid classes start. You will receive detailed information on the process in early January.
We strongly recommend that you discuss any potential changes with your academic advisor(s) before making them.
You will receive an academic calendar for your semester abroad, posted for all students in Blackboard, that includes dates and deadlines that differ from main campus. You must meet these deadlines.
SU students will continue to receive emails for main campus. This can be confusing, especially when it comes to academic dates and deadlines. Remember to follow the information provided by the Madrid Center Academic Office. Reach out if you have any questions! Confusion between main campus and Madrid Center academic deadlines is not an excuse.
Study of Spanish language is a program requirement regardless of your proficiency.
But please rest assured that you won't be stuck in a class that's inappropriate for you! Your Spanish level will be assessed and confirmed during your first days abroad. If it's suggested by the Madrid Spanish faculty that an adjustment be made to your Spanish class level during the first week of classes, you’ll work with the Center staff and your academic advisor on main campus (or for visiting students, from your home college/university) to make the change.
¡Todo hecho! You're all set.
