Fieldwork
The fieldwork undertake is a rewarding and often exciting part of the A level course. Students of geology are expected to acquire and practice field knowledge and skills during four one day excursions to sites across northern England. At each field location learners undertake a range of activities and apply their knowledge to answer important geological questions, such as
what does the geological evidence from a locality reveal about processes and environmental events that created the rocks and shaped landscape of the area?
what do the geological structures and fossils found in the rock tell us about the timing of pasts events?
what does the evidence of rock deformation reveal about the tectonic history of this area?
