Initially, I joined teaching because I enjoy spending time with children. Over the years in NIE, and the exposure I have in schools, I started to see the importance of educators and how much we can affect children. Hence, I feel that it is important for me to identify every student's strength and help stretch them to their fullest potential. In today's world, it is also especially important to look beyond students' academic achievements and help them develop holistically.
With children's diminishing interest in Chinese Language, it is important to ignite their interest through the delivery of our lessons. As a Chinese teacher, it is my job to curate interesting lessons in order to better engage my students and spark their interest in learning the language. To achieve this, I would try my best to incorporate technology into my lessons to make lessons more meaningful and fun.
As an educator, we would meet different batches of students with diverse family backgrounds. Hence, it is especially important for me to stay reflective regardless of how long I have been teaching. Being reflective helps me to always seek improvements in my execution and planning of lessons, thereby allowing me to constantly improve and become better.
