Obligations of a Researcher
(for Externally-Funded Research)
Ensure that the conduct of the research is in accordance with ethical research standards and urgent measures to ensure the safety of all faculty researchers and students handling microbiological and biological specimens in laboratories, e.g., for studies involving human and/or animal vertebrate subjects, a clearance from the Institutional Ethics Review Committee shall be obtained; and for studies involving potential pathogens and pathogenic microorganisms, genetic modification, and insect vectors of diseases of plants, animals and humans a clearance shall be obtained from the Institutional Biosafety Committee;
Ensure the proper implementation of the project, properly utilize the funds provided by the external funding agency and see to it that these are used for the purpose for which the same are intended, in accordance with the approved timetable activities and Line-Item-Budget (LIB), subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations;
Submit the required reports to the funding agency and provide copies to the Office of Research Management of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise (OVCRE);
Different obligations are stated in the Agreements (MOA/MOU/Contract) for each research project. The researcher must comply with those obligations.
