Sometimes the dread of what you need to write is worse than actually sitting down to write. Chloe said this last semester, and I completely agree. Wherever you are in your paper, it is not too late and you are not too far gone. Do not let the fear of failure determine the quality of your work! You can get back on track this week by pacing yourself in a healthy way--set daily goals, set a timer to write for an hour and a half each day, start early and give yourself breaks, reward yourself--with food or TV--for small milestones, if you miss a day forgive yourself and start over with this plan the next day. **DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS WHOLE PROJECT IN ONE NIGHT!!!** This is where your paper quality and your mental health suffer. Don't do this to yourself!
I have high expectations for the quality of your work! But I also have high expectations for your level of grit. I know all of you have a proven track record of persevering in the face of challenges--life challenges and academic challenges. Now is the time to rise to the occasion, not buckle under the pressure. Stay strong and persevere!
Fill out the "IWA Goals" sheet, below. You will need to open the doc, click File, then "make a copy" to edit the doc. You are also welcome to hand-write your goals. Share your goals with me to get credit for today's class.
Set a timer for an hour and a half and knock out (get it? Muhammad Ali? ) your first goal! You will feel better, trust me. Virtuous cycle!
