I see some of you did the peer review, test grade, from last class period--thank you for being on top of this. I will put that grade in ASAP!
I will accept this test grade late, but NOT after May 1st. The door for last class's peer review will close on this date. It is up to YOU to coordinate your own peer from now on. Please text/email me after both peers have commented on your draft, and I will adjust your grade.
Be aware that I've made some changes to the end-of-semester schedule. Your finals will be early--the last week of April & second week in May--to accommodate changes to the AP exam schedule, which will take place the last two weeks of school, including during our normal final exam times. Therefore, things will be wrapping up early. Scroll to the bottom to see our end-of-year schedule.
Take notes and text your notes to me on Remind before 8am on Wednesday.
I'm finding the CB video series, very helpful. Especially the one from last class on including the limitations of a perspective. If you missed it click here!
due Friday before 11:59 pm . You should have at least 4 pages by this point.
Use the Research Writing Template slides to transition between perspectives. Remember to show that that your sources are "in conversation" with each other.
Some misconceptions that I'm seeing in your first perspective paragraphs:
"Perspective" refers to the stance one takes in an argument; "lens" refers to the disciplinary field of the argument (scientific, literary, economic, etc.).
Unlike your IRR, your IWA can and should cover multiple lens --you can see this in the sample IWA. outline . If you're having problems with length, I recommend that you consider your topic through several lenses (still organize by perspective).
For the sake of the rubric "perspective" and "solution" are use interchangeably to refer to the possible stances sources take in response to your research question.
Make sure your perspectives are solution-based, not just describing the problem, but making an evaluation about what the outcome ("solution") should be.
When you introduce an author early in the sentence (last names only!), give the year of publication directly after the author's name. The page # will stay at the end. This what it should look like!!!
Tests:
1st perspective peer review, due April 20th
final peer review, due May 8th
Final exam:
IWA rough draft, due May 1st--we will submit final draft to the digital portfolio on May 12th
Performance Final:
IWA Presentation--creative multimedia representation of your research, due date May 15th
Hang in there y'all. We're so close!
