Fifth Grade

Students in 5th grade are going to initiate our Composting Program here at Stripling. They began their journey by learning about physical and chemical changes through building rockets, then moved to designing solutions to erosion and movements of Earth. In addition, they conducted food audits to help all students at Stripling understand their impact on our environment when they take more than they need. In addition, they have studied vascular and nonvascular plants to determine which will grow best in our garden, helped the plants bloom, and transplant them to our garden. As they learn about microorganisms they become aware of the process and benefits of having these organisms in our garden to break down materials to reuse in our soil.
