For the first time, we are opening up applications for Rising 10th graders! We have a few limited spots available. Fill out the same application during registration, and stop by E213 to discuss with Mrs. Dyar. Students will be expected to take AP Biology if they start in 10th grade, and will need to ensure they get a credit for Chemistry before graduation.
Are you in GCPS but not the Mill Creek Cluster? Each year GCPS will decide if we are a permissive school. Please email me with any questions.
If you have questions, please email kelly.dyar@gcpsk12.org
Teacher Recommendations are not required for the application. We will communicate with any teachers as needed, and students do not need to ask for recommendations.
EPIC "Essay" Prompt For Your Information - Read Below: The questions may be answered as anything BUT an essay.
This will be submitted as a link within your application. You must make sure sharing settings allow us to see your work. Here is the prompt to help you prepare:
EPIC learning is experiential, projected based, innovative, cross-curricular, and collaborative. This is a new approach to learning that requires students to explore, discover and use critical thinking skills. To be successful, our team values time management, creativity, innovative technology use, collaboration, and problem solving skills.
Describe and give specific examples demonstrating one or more of these three skills.
In addition, share at least one other skill or interest that you believe will help you be successful in our EPIC environment.
Please submit a LINK and please make sure the share settings enable us to see your work. The questions may be answered as anything BUT an essay - submit a link to a video, art, slides presentation, time-line, digital poster, storyboard, or other means of communications where you answer the two questions in an alternative format.
Please make sure the share settings enable us to see your work.
A quick note about sharing the "essay". We have been informed that middle school students are not easily able to share the essay using their GCPS gmail. There are two options:
Students can use GCPS gmail and share specifically with these emails: kelly_dyar@g.gcpsk12.org and travis_techo@g.gcpsk12.org - these emails are for sharing only. Do not email questions to these emails! Thank you!
Students can use an external email address or method of creating the essay and use the share settings so anyone can see it.
