Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs) are competitive opportunities that allow FFA members to apply what they’ve learned in agriculture classes to real-world scenarios. CDEs focus on technical and career-specific skills like forestry, veterinary science, and agriscience research, while LDEs develop public speaking, leadership, and communication skills through events like Creed Speaking and Parliamentary Procedure.
Participation in these events helps students build confidence, gain hands-on experience, and stand out for scholarships and career readiness. They are also a critical component of earning higher-level FFA honors, including the prestigious Georgia FFA State Degree, which requires students to demonstrate active involvement beyond the chapter level.
Whether students are exploring careers or building leadership skills, CDEs and LDEs are a key part of the FFA journey!
Brookwood FFA is proud to support our students and their endeavors towards accolades provided by The National FFA Organization - but with these accolades requires many days of studying, practice, and workshops. Please note that if you want to participate in a CDE or LDE event, we are more than happy to provide you all the materials to be successful... what you do with those materials is determined by YOU.
Please remember that at these competitions, you represent not only yourself as a student and FFA member, but Brookwood High School.
Our tradition of excellence bleeds into our competitions, so if you desire to participate, desire to be excellent.
Attached are the general guidelines for Georgia CDE/LDE competitions. By clicking the link below, you can attain access to the large number of competitions that Georgia FFA offers.
