The St. Francois River is a small river that runs along and through the St. Francois Mountains. This area is known as Silver Mines. Silver Mines has silver, tungsten, and some lead ore. This area was once mined and there are artifacts of that era if you look for them. This run of the St. Francois can have a lot of water in spring and is home to a spring multi state white water competition. This area is not as tightly controlled as others so rock collection is allowed in moderation. There are sulfide minerals, granite, rhyolite, and even obsidian. A milky quartz vein that cuts across the river close to the breached dam.
