Hickory Canyons is in the countryside surrounding the St. Francois Mountains. It is a small deep canyon in the LaMotte Sandstone, which is the lower conductive layer of the St. Francois Aquifer. This canyon cuts into that layer and is reputed to be the deepest sandstone canyon in the Missouri Ozarks.
